This course provides a deep dive into the field of cultural anthropology, exploring the diverse practices, rituals, and belief systems that define human societies. From tribal rituals in the Amazon to urban subcultures in Tokyo, students examine how culture is created, shared, and transformed over time. The course opens with key concepts in anthropology, including ethnography, participant observation, and cultural relativism. Topics include kinship and family structure, religion and cosmology, language and symbolism, food and clothing customs, rites of passage, and identity politics.
